WHERE TO STAY IN BANDUNG

Holiday Inn Getaway Specials from Marriott.

Bandung provides some really comfortable hotels, from youth hostels to five-starred hotels, choose the one that is suitable for you. Names of hotels listed below are those of the star-hotels only, which in no way should be interpreted as the absence of starless hotels as there are quite a number of them all over the province. Some hotels and an amount for tax and service on the bill, then again some others don't. Hotel rates adjustments may take place from time to time depending on season, demand, exchange rate, and room availability. Thus, all information offered herein should be considered as unbinding and essentially basic.

Hi Bluesmile, will be visiting Bandung again this coming August. Search the internet for the exact location of this Sukajadi Hotel. Appreciate if you can tell the exact location. btw, I know there's one eatery place (Pak met Ikan Bakar) & Rumah Mode...

BlueSmile said...

Hello Him :)
For the info of Sukajadi Hotel, you can follow this link http://www.sukajadihotel.com/map.php
It is not far from Rumah Mode which is on Jl. Dr. Setiabudi No. 41

Hi bluesmile
planning to go bandung for shopping this august, but I have to bring my kids including my baby... any tips to travel, shop, eat and stay with them.. thanks

BlueSmile said...

Hi Hera :)
For shopping.. Jl. Juanda (Dago) and Jl. Martadinata (Riau) are the Shopping outlet (Factory outlet) spots in Bandung, so if you stay near those areas would be great choice :)
For eat.. I dont think you will have problem to find the restaurants or cafe in Bandung :) Its almost everywhere.. Beside its shopping places, Bandung also best known for its culinary places..

I never had experience to travel with baby before.. :)
So I dont really know about it.. but maybe you can check on this site about that Traveling tips with kids or baby :)
It says.. most important is to create a home away from home wherever possible when you traveling with kids or baby :)

hi bluesmile,

I'm zickey from Malaysia. I will travel to Bandung at the end of October with 6 other friends. We prefer to stay in apartment but the problem is most of the website doesn't have rates.

In the other hands do you know how much it cost to rent a van with driver for a trip to Tangkuban Perahu?

Actually I still didn't know how to travel from Jakarta airport to Bandung. Is it cheap if we rent a van or else there's other option?

Really appreciate if you could help. Thank you in advance

BlueSmile said...

Hello Zickey :)
I just added a list of 3 apartments in Bandung on this post with its contact information so you can just ask them :)

I dont know how much to rent a van. Maybe you can check on tripadvisor.com as lost of information about renting car to go around in Bandung.

For getting to Bandung from Jakarta airport you can check on this link:
http://indo-spot.blogspot.com/2007/11/how-to-get-to-bandung.html

:p I can just share those informations for now.. Hope that help a bit :p

Hope you will have a nice visit to Bandung :)

Hi bluesmile,

I'm Nur from Malaysia. I will travel to Bandung at end of Jan 2009 with my 3 friends during chinese new year. Actually this is our 1st trip to Indonesia. We will arrive at jakarta airport around 10 pm.

We planned to go directly from jakarta to bandung the night we arrive..does it advisable to do so or just we wait for tomorrow morning to start our trip to bandung?My worries is about our safety or maybe because of road condition therefore not advisable to travel at night. But if its ok, we are happy if can go directly to bandung since we dont want to waste our time at jakarta because our main purpose is to go to bandung anyways..lol

For your info we are planning to rent a car with a driver to takes us.

My friend told me about paradissa hotel at bandung which have a reasonable price and nice place for the budget traveller. Unfortunately budget hotel does not have website. Do you know the hotel and may i know ur opinion about it..

Thanks in advance..

BlueSmile said...

Hello Nur :)
That would be more efficient if you could directly to Bandung if you don't have any plan to stay in Jakarta :) (wonder why don't you have direct flight from KL-BDO) :p
Anyway.. there is shuttle from Jakarta Airport to Bandung, CIPAGANTI but their service is until 10.00PM dunno if you guys could catch it when arrived.

Or you can take Revin Shuttle. Check this link:
Hot to Get to Bandung

About budget Hotel in Bandung.. I dont really know about Paradissa hotel conditions.. But speaking about he price, seems like it is fit for budget traveler :) Its bellow 200,000 IDR?

Well ty for visiting this blog.. hope so this will help you abit hehe.. Happy traveling :)

Nur said...

Hello blue smile,

Thanks for your reply..i really appreciate it :).

For your info. actually i will fly from Kuching,Sarawak by airasia which we dont have a direct flight from kuching to bandung :(

I think we will consider to use the Revin shuttle as u suggested. It will save a lot of money since we intent to shopping & sightseeing. I have a another few Q to ask and I hope u dont mind :)

1. I read a lot about the famous Rumah Mode which sell many branded item.. I just curious whether it is genuine or just the imitation and is there any tips to differentiate it?

2. Do you know any hotel with a good condition and easy access to factory outlet such as rumah mode,dago or riau which cost around Rp300 - 250,000 below.

3. I will visit bandung and jakarta during holiday ( 22-27 jan 09 ) which is Chinese new year holiday is on 26jan..should i book early for the tranportation & accomodation since it was holiday?

Thanks in advance bluesmile :)

BlueSmile said...

@Nur
1. Rumah Mode.. Well its one of the famous FO in Bandung as a One-stop shopping. They sell branded local and X-export quality stuff. Not only fashion also the accessories.
Other FO also sell the same stuff.. Actually lots of options.

2. Hotel around Rp.200 - 300,000. You can take Karmila hotel on Jl. Juanda (Dago) Phn: +62 22 420 6778
(Please read my reply for MERA :))
I suggested it also to a friend also from Malaysia stayed there when she was here. She said its fine and great price for a hotel on a great spot.

3. If you wanna stay at Karmila Hotel.. Its better to book it early. As I said.. its a good price for a good spot :)

Hope that help :p
Thx Nur

Another one you can check on Grand Setiabudhi Apartment and Galery Ciumbuleuit Apartment.

Rumah ebo guesthouse is nice. They have a website as you can check it :)

Thanks

2)how can i get a driver to ride my fam. around and how much should i pay him on a daily rate and tips.?
3)Is swiss hotel safe?
my fam will be comming in mid dec2008
thks for yr reply

BlueSmile said...

@Anonymous
1. Arion Swiss Hotel is located just within walking distance from Bandung's train station and 15 minutes from the city's airport. Nearby shopping center district such as Pasar Baru and King shopping center. About 15 minutes to Jl. Dago and Jl. Riau (for Factory Outlet).

2. Driver.. I am sorry I dunno much about it. Maybe you can check on Tripadvisor website coz lots of people already talked about it there. Or you can ask the front desk guy at the hotel (sometime some hotels have car for rent too). They have such as daily rent or per-hours (5 hours etc).

3. I dunno about the hotel safety. But from reading the review of those whose stayed there.. it seems nice hotel to stay in :) Pls check on Tripadvisor for the hotel review.

Hi Blue Smile.. nice blog and very informative!!

I need ur help and advise.. My friends and I (7 guys) plan on vacation to jakarta and bandung from 25th february 2009 - 28th february 2009.

Our plan is to stay in jakarta on the first night and on 26th february we go to bandung for one night stay and will back to jakarta for last night cause our flight back KL is in 28th's night.. Is our plan is ok??

then, could u suggest one hotel in jakarta and one hotel in bandung for that particular stay?? our budget is below IDR250,000 per night for one room and strategic location for transportation, shopping, sightseeing and nightlife area (if possible.. too demand rite?? hahaha..)

I really appreciate it if u could email to me at awis_rahim@yahoo.com

but if not convenience for u, u can reply my comment here..

Thank you Blue smile.. can't wait for your reply...

Cheers.

BlueSmile said...

Ummm well ...
To be honest.. I dont really know about hotel conditions whether the room will fit for groups :)

Karmila Hotel has a good price and location.. but I dunno about room capacity.. Too small for 6 - 7 people I guess.. Hmmm..

I hope anyone else could help to give the info here .. please..

awiscool2007 said...

Hi blue smile.. i dont mean that one room for 7 person.. huhuhu.. I mean based on standard room (2-3 pax per one room)... so, for 7 people, maybe we will take 2-3 room per stay...

btw, thanx about the info of hotel karmila.. how about hotel in jakarta??

one more thing, the easiest way to go to bandung from jakarta is by bus or train??

wait for ur replt blue smile..

cheers...

BlueSmile said...

@awiscool2007
oops misunderstood you then.. sorry :p ... Hotel Progo, Jl.Progo 6 Bandung is cheaper I guess.. you will need to take "Angkot" (public transportation) about Rp.1,000 - 2,000 to Factory Outlet (less than 1RM)

* I dont really know about jakarta.. so honestly I cant help.. sowwy ..

* The easiest way to get to Bandung from Jakarta is by train (unless directly from Soekarno hatta airport it would be easier by bus at the airport). Or shuttle bus/car, which will pick you up point to point. Check on Cipaganti Travel.

Check this?

hi bluesmiles,
me and another 8 family members will be visiting bandung starting from 27 until 30th feb this year.. I will bring over my 2 girls aged around 2 and 5 years old..
1. Can u advise me on the safety of the kids?
2. I will be staying at topas galeria hotel, do u have any idea on the hotel services?
3. I would love to buy handbags, which shopping outlets would u suggest me to go?

thanx in advance bluesmiles..:)

BlueSmile said...

@Shamintan
Hi :)
1. Generally Bandung is safe as the family distance. But you still need to keep an eyes for the kids in the hustle bustle of your shopping stuff.
Never known :)

2. I think Topas Galeria hotel is fine.. I dunno for the service detail tho.. :p Got to check on guests review online I guess.

3. Handbags .. "Terminal Tas" and "Edward Forrer" (Bag and shoes) on Jalan Martadinata (Jalan Riau).
Edward Forrer got few outlets in Bandung tho.
Most of the Factory Outlet also sell handbags but not too much.

"Pasar Baru" - here you can find anything you want.. (cheap and expensive - bargain market) its crowd place tho and not comfortable with the kids.

Enjoy your day :)

Hi,

I'm planning to go Bandung this coming April and it is a shopping trip , would like to get some information on the accommodation below: -

1. Hotel Bumi Sawunggaling
2. Hotel Gandasari
3. Cihampelas Hotel 2

Which is recommended?

Thanks a lot

BlueSmile said...

@insane
Hello ..
The three hotels almost have the same rate range. Cihampelas hotel is cheaper of the three tho.

So I think you can check for the hotel services that you expect.

And about the location. I dont really know much about the neighborhood of Bumi Sawunggaling hotel :p

Hotel Gandasari has a good location to the Factory Outlets in Jalan Riau. Its walk distance.

Hotel Cihampelas 2 also at a good shopping area and central of Jeans and clothes shops.

Both are good place for shopping. To reach the spots from the hotel (whether its from Gandasari or Cihampelas) will need about 15 minutes if no traffic of course :p (Cihampelas is a busy place)

Gday :)

insane said...

Thanks for the reply, may I know if there's any good review about Hotel Gandasari and Hotel Cihampelas 2?

For example, cleanliness, good service, etc.

BlueSmile said...

@insane
You can find hotel review from Tripadvisor website. I cant tell about the service and etc myself coz I never experienced to stay there :P

But from the outside hotel.. I can say..
Hotel Cihampelas looks like gloomy.
Hotel Gandasari looks clean and neat.
Have you checked on the hotels website yet?

insane said...

Yes, I've checked the hotels website and it does looks OK to me. I'll check Tripadvisor website.

Both are good place for shopping. To reach the spots from the hotel (whether its from Gandasari or Cihampelas) will need about 15 minutes if no traffic of course :p (Cihampelas is a busy place)

15 minutes is walking distance or by car?

BlueSmile said...

@insane
Hehe sorry :p

and I meant it .. From Gandasari to Cihampelas need about 15 minutes by car. Vise versa.

Gandasari to FO 15 minutes walked. Cihampelas hotel to Jeans shops hmmm its just next door along the street.

Gnight :)

insane said...

Hi BlueSmile,

Found out from TripAdvisor forum, there are few hotel options, which do you recommend?

1. Hotel Progo
2. Hotel Karmila
3. Hotel Gandasari

Another question, are those hotels need any deposit prior arrival?

Thanks :)

BlueSmile said...

Hotel Progo abit cheaper than the two hotels. And you can go to GASIBU Sunday morning market not far from the hotel (walk distance). Also not too far to Jl. Riau for Factory Outlet.

Hotel Karmila is on Jl. Dago, good location for shopping. Not far from Jl. Riau also to Gasibu (Sunday morning).

Well the tree hotels are good location :p almost the same rate price. I dunno which one to recommend you .. Also I dunno for deposit prior arrival. Sorry I cant help much hehe.. :p

Gday

Hi BlueSmile,

Thanks for the reply :)

1 question, we'll be traveling to Bandung (just 2 of us), what is the recommendation if we want to visit Tangkuban Perahu and Kawah Putih?
Is it safe to hire a taxi? It will be costly to hire a taxi. Or we should follow local tour? Please recommend.

Thanks in advance.

BlueSmile said...

@insane

Hello :)
To Tangkuban Perahu you can hire taxi and deal with the driver about the price. I am not sure how much it will cost, but I think its around Rp 300,000 depend on your bargain skill :p (from the hotel and back to Bandung city).

You can have another option by renting a car. It will cost around 250,000 - 700,000 (possible for bargain too) depend on the car type and how long you will use it (hours or daily). You can check on tripadvisor forum. They talk about this things.

:p

BlueSmile said...

@han_niem

Hello :)
Setramurni Apartment is in North of Bandung. To get to shopping center/Factory Outlet in Dago, Riau area, Cihampelas, Pasar Baru would be need about 45 mnts - 1 hr by car/taxi (depend on the traffic).

:p Happy shopping

Where is the best place in town to be for spending time in Bandung?

1) for honeymoon
2) for shopping

Thank you.

BlueSmile said...

@CyberPlot

1) Vila Air in Lembang would be a nice place to stay for honeymoon. But its about 45 mts away from Bandung and shopping centers. Take a look at its website or just check on Hotel and Villa in Lembang link above.

2) Shopping centers are in Dago and Riau area. Rumah Mode on Jl.Setia Budi. Pasar Baru and Cihamplas area.

:) Enjoy the honeymoon
